Today we’re going to talk about the Penn Slammer 3 6500 Spinning Reel. This is the SLA III 6500 or III 6500. This is the third generation of the Slammer and it has proven to be a winner for Penn. You can see just how nice it is in terms of the quality of it all aluminum construction and see this beautiful handle on there really comfortable as big ball mount, they actually include an EBA one in. If you wanted to switch out and you said “hey I don’t like the aluminum”. I like something lighter EBA which I’m a big fan of actually, it comes in the box which is a cool thing with them but this is a one of Penn’s top spinning reels. It is not including the torque. You can really feel that between this end let’s say to clash or the conflict battle all the reels that come below it. So the new thing for Penn or the past couple years they’re better reel. That CNC gears and instead of just pressing them. It’s got brass gears inside the main pinion and oscillation gears stainless steel ball bearings. It is sealed they call IPX6. The shield reels it’s the same thing. It’s got seals everywhere. You’re not going to go swimming with this thing but if you’re surf fishing and hit by a wave you’re on a boat you’re getting spray and it’s absolutely no problem. It’s perfect for surf fishing, perfect for boat fishing if you’re down in the Gulf and doing grouper and snapper and that’s perfect. You’re up here with a 10-foot surf rod and you’re throwing from the beach perfect. It’s just a really well-made, well-built reel. The drag system on this is crazy it’s got their direct system which is ridiculously powerful. You’re looking at 40 pounds of drag at max I mean just insane weighs 24.3 ounces and the gear is shown this is a 5.6:1. It’s got all aluminum construction. It is a manual trip on this thing but it’s nice and smooth really well made reel from Penn even popular like I said, this whole Slammer series has been very popular. It’s been out for a year now and anglers are really enjoying them they like the big handle.
I just like the performance the fact they just don’t fail to just keep working and that’s the big thing when you’re fishing in saltwater, specially going to use this for bigger fish. You want a reel that you can rely on and for my experience everything. I’ve seen in the shop and the people that are spoken with and everybody has fishing reel. It’s extremely reliable then all about 400 yards is 40-pound test grade. So you get a lot of line on there. So check it out it’s the Penn Slammer 3 spinning reel SLA III 6,500 retail this is and they are in stock and available.
