Shimano Ultegra 14000 XTD Surf Spinning Reel – Review

Today we’re going to review about Shimano Ultegra 14000 XTD, Big Pit Spinning Reel. This is the 14,000 sides, models the Ultegra 14,000 XTD. This is new from Shimano and this is the second generation of the Ultegra. They’ve changed things around just a little bit nothing crazy but if you want a Shimano long cast reel then the Ultegra is your option in the United States. This reel is brought over from Europe.

You can see at super slow oscillation and how many times I have to turn the handle just to get that spool to the top. I mean it’s still going.
So, this is going to generate those super, super long cast. So this is really standing on the beach. You’re standing on the pier you need a lot of distance and you still can throw. If you’re just fishing the beach up and you want to get distance this is a really good option.

In terms of these, this is an automatic trip. Well I got to get it in the right position just because the reel so big and you can see it tripped over. It’s a lot smoother. I have here graphite body, aluminum spool, aluminum handle, a nice long aluminum handles with the T knob and buckle rubberized or set down wherever you want to call it. Powerful direct system 44 pounds of drag, a max reel weighs in at 21.9 ounces 5 ball bearings total and a 4.3:1 gear ratio. It holds A ton of line 650-pound test braid. It comes with spool spaces that you can use. If you want to like the rings that go around the spool, so that you can lessen the amount of line. You can put on by them and just use mono backing. It doesn’t really make sense that’s kind of a European thing.

I mean, you can do if you want it you can includes it but it’s not something that we would do in the store or recommend. It does come with a spare spool. It’s just a surf reel for guys who aren’t necessarily getting wet but want to get a lot of distance and that’s exactly what it’s designed for. You don’t need an all-metal body for that and you don’t need seals for that. You just need a real super slow oscillation that can get the distance you need and that’s exactly what this reel does. Check it out it’s the Shimano Ultegra 14,000 XTD, Big Pit Spinning Reel. They are in stock and available.
